Small progress update


Hi there everyone!

Just thought I'd give a small update to prove I'm still about, thanks for your continued support towards Cryptid Farm! Work on the game is coming along slowly but surely with focus towards the Steam page these days. Plenty of small bug fixes along with some work on the UI of the game (turns out I had to update Unity and the project entirely to get scrollbars to work correctly again, you never know what snags you're gonna find). Here's a devlog just to show off some of the things that are new.


Here's a look at the new speech bubbles which make the in game chat a lot easier to follow.


Along with the updated chat box to replace the default Unity GUI one. This took pretty much a full rewrite of the old code so it's exciting to me at least x)

Stealing has a bit of a new look to help make it a bit clearer (probably still needs work tbh)

Finally, a new item called compost has made it into the build. This is more of an experimental item but it fits with the theme of building up your farm so I thought I'd try adding it in. Compost increases the time it takes for a crop to grow, but doubles it's return value. Adds a bit more risk and reward whilst freeing up some time to do other things. I hope to add an animation of ripping open the compost bag at some point :D

As always, I'm so happy to see people still playing Cryptid Farm and I love the community and fan art that has sprung from it. Keep watching for some more progress soon and happy farming!
